AT MOHEGAN SUN
Tommy Toy Fund Toy Drive
Each December since 2015, Team Members have donated new unwrapped toys for local children in Southeastern CT to open on Christmas morning. An average of 700 toys are donated each year. Also, at least 40 Team Members volunteer each year to help clean, decorate, organize and distribute the toys to families in the Norwich area.
Over the Edge for Special Olympics
Held each year since 2010, this public event sends individuals to the top of the Sky Tower to rappel down all 30+ stories to raise money for Special Olympics Connecticut! Last year our team raised over $17,000 for the organization. Between 10-30 Team Members have participated in the event each year.
Heart Walk
Every October, Mohegan Sun Team Members come together to support the American Heart Association (AHA) Eastern Connecticut Heart Walk. For over 10 years, teams from various departments have been formed and the walk is promoted throughout the year with contests and incentives for funds raised and participation. Over the past 5 years, Mohegan Sun has helped raise over $75,000 for the AHA and over 170 Team Members, family members, and friends have walked in support. The walk is held annually in Eastern Connecticut and has been held on property several times over the years.
Employee Giving Campaign
Each year in October, Team Members pledge weekly donations from their paychecks to benefit our charity federation partners: United Way, Creating Healthier Communities, and EarthShare. Last year, over 750 Team Members participated and over $1 million was pledged. Mohegan Corporate also pledges a company match of over $100,000.
Virtual Food Drive
Every February, a virtual food drive is held to benefit United Way's Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Center. Team Members can pledge either dollar amounts or purchase food items that will be donated to a local individual in need. Last year, Team Members pledged over $3,000 to donate a total of over 1,000 food items.
Team Member Talent Show
Each year, Mohegan Sun holds a Team Member Talent Show to benefit one of our charity federation partners. 100% of the revenue generated from ticket sales is donated, and all guests have the opportunity to make an extra donation to benefit the charity's selected initiative. Last year, the show benefited EarthShare's efforts to protect native and indigenous lands, and the previous show benefited Creating Healthier Communities initiative to promote maternal health among mothers of color. The show raises on average $1,500-$2,000 a year.
Spirit of Aquai Volunteer Hub
In February of 2024, Mohegan Sun launched the Spirit of Aquai Volunteer Hub. The Hub is an online platform that allows our Team Members to find new volunteer opportunities in their community as well track the amount of volunteer hours they complete on their own. Team Members volunteer with many organizations within their own communities, including their local parent-teacher organizations, animal shelters, fire rescue, veteran's associations, and more. To date, the users on the site have contributed a combined economic impact on their communities of over $25,000. Additionally, Mohegan Sun donates $1,000 quarterly to 4 randomly selected Team Members who volunteered that quarter. The winning team Members then choose a charitable organization that they would like to donate that money to.
Inclusion Programs
Disability inclusion at Mohegan Sun is about more than hiring people with disabilities. Our inclusive workplace values all Team Members for their strengths. It offers those with disabilities — whether visible or invisible — an equal opportunity to succeed, to learn, to be compensated fairly, and to advance. True inclusion is about embracing our differences.
